Sable Vault

Your files. Your device.

Privacy policy

Sable Vault keeps encrypted copies of your photos, videos, and files on your device. We do not operate a server that receives your vault.

Effective October 26, 2026 · Applies to the current Sable Vault iOS app and this support website.

01 · Your local vault

Sable Vault stores imported copies and their vault metadata, such as names, file types, Favorites, and Trash status, in encrypted form in the app’s local storage. The app uses this information to display, search, organize, preview, and export your saved items.

The app does not send vault contents, filenames, or encryption keys to the developer. It has no Sable account, contact directory, messaging service, or cloud synchronization. We have not added advertising, tracking, or usage-analytics tools to the app, and we do not sell vault information.

On a physical device, the vault key is held in Apple’s device-only Keychain with device-passcode and user-presence protection. Sable uses the system authentication result; it does not receive your passcode or Face ID or Touch ID biometric templates. The vault folder is marked to be excluded from device backups.

Keep another copy of important files. The current version has no vault backup or recovery feature and has not had an independent security review. Encryption does not prevent exposure through an unlocked or compromised device, screenshots, or copies outside the app.

02 · Access and permissions

You choose the photos, videos, or files to import through Apple’s system pickers. Sable does not request access to your phone contacts. A source stored in iCloud or another file provider may be downloaded by that provider before import, under its own privacy practices.

Importing makes a separate copy. It does not delete, hide, or change the original in Photos, Files, another app, or a cloud service. Original photos and documents may contain embedded information, such as location or author details; that information can remain inside the imported copy.

Previewing, playback, and export can require temporary readable copies on the device. The app attempts to clean up its temporary copies after use; this is not a guarantee of forensic erasure. If you choose Export, Sable creates an unencrypted copy at your chosen destination. Other apps, people, or cloud providers may then access or retain it.

You can stop importing at any time and manage any applicable permissions in your device’s Settings. Sable cannot change or remove copies held by your original or export providers.

03 · Apple and subscriptions

Apple processes App Store downloads, purchases, renewals, refunds, and payment details. Sable Vault uses Apple’s verified purchase information, including subscription validity, on the device to decide whether new imports use the free or Plus allowance. Your vault contents are not part of that purchase check.

The developer does not receive your payment-card or bank-account details from an in-app purchase. Apple may make sales, subscription, crash, or diagnostic reports available through its developer services according to Apple’s settings and policies. TestFlight also processes testing information under its own terms. Sable has not added a separate app analytics or crash-reporting service.

No separate Sable account is required. An Apple Account and internet connection are needed for purchases and restore operations. Opening saved files works locally once the device vault is unlocked. Existing files remain available to open and export if Plus ends.

See Apple’s Privacy Policy. You can manage or cancel a subscription in Apple Account settings; Apple explains the steps here. Deleting the app does not cancel an Apple subscription.

04 · Contacting support

If you email sablevaultsupport@gmail.com, we receive your email address, message, and anything you voluntarily include, such as device details or screenshots. We use that information to answer your request, investigate problems, and maintain necessary support records.

Support uses Gmail, so email is also processed by Google and your email provider. See Google’s Privacy Policy. Emailing support is optional and is not required to use the local vault.

Please do not send passwords, verification codes, encryption keys, payment details, or private vault files. Describe the problem using non-sensitive examples, and remove personal content from screenshots before sending them. Support cannot unlock or recover a lost vault key.

05 · Website visits

This website provides privacy information and support instructions. We have not added advertising, analytics scripts, upload forms, or user accounts to these pages.

The website hosting service may process technical request information, such as IP address, requested page, browser information, and access time, to deliver the pages, protect the service, and diagnose failures. Hosting infrastructure and your browser may have their own operational logs and retention practices. Visiting this site does not send your vault files to us.

Links to Apple, Google, or other external services take you to sites governed by their own policies.

06 · Sharing and disclosure

Sable does not upload your vault to a developer-operated service or share it with advertisers. Files leave the app when you choose to export them or when you share information yourself, including by email.

Support correspondence is handled through our email service for the purposes described above. We may disclose correspondence or other information we actually hold when legally required, or as reasonably necessary to address fraud, misuse, or a security issue. We cannot disclose vault content that we never received.

07 · Retention and removal

Saved vault items remain in local app storage until that storage is removed. Moving an item to Trash is reversible and does not permanently delete it; the current version has no command to permanently delete individual vault items. Ending a subscription does not remove saved items.

Deleting the app through iOS removes its local app storage. Offloading the app may retain its data. Before removing the app or erasing your device, export and verify any copies you need: there is no recovery service. iOS may retain Keychain entries independently of app storage; the device-only key is not a cloud backup of your files. Losing the key or removing the device passcode can make remaining encrypted files unavailable.

We cannot remotely inspect, recover, or delete your on-device vault. Copies in Photos, Files, cloud providers, exports, email, or backups outside Sable must be managed separately with those services.

We retain support correspondence only as needed to respond, maintain necessary records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. You can request access, correction, or deletion of support information we hold by emailing the address below. We may need to verify your request and may retain information where required by law. Requests cannot remove records controlled separately by Apple, Google, or your chosen providers.

08 · Children

Sable Vault is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly seek personal information from children through support. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review it and take appropriate action.

09 · Changes and contact

We will update this page and its effective date when our practices change. If a future version introduces cloud storage, new data collection, or another material change, its policy and any necessary choices will be updated before those features are used.
